Capital Football Update (22 May)

Pending Government announcement on 25 May and subject to ground availability. Capital Football Senior and Youth competitions will commence on the weekend from 6/7 June, with Juniors commencing the following weekend.

Below are the revised key dates for 2020 Season.

Ongoing | COVID 19 updates

24 May | Tier 2 and Youth (U13+) team entries close*

26 May | Men’s Advisory Group check-in

27 May | Junior (U12-) team entries close

31 May | Updated regulations published

31 May | First round draws published for Senior and Youth competitions

05 June | First round draws published for Junior competitions

06/07 June | Senior and Youth competitions start

13/14 June | Junior competitions start

*CF will move these team into the correct competitions, please let me know if teams are withdrawing or concerned with their new position  

 

Below is the updated competition structures for the season.

 

Tier 1 Competitions 

Capital Premier to Capital 4

  • Competitions will remain 10 teams leagues.
  • Two full rounds will be scheduled, starting on Saturday 6 June and finishing Sunday 27 September.
  • There will be one mid-week round scheduled and more will be needed if there are any cancellations.

 

W-League and Women’s Prem

  • Competitions will remain 8 teams leagues.
  • Two full rounds will be scheduled, starting on Saturday 13 June and finishing Sunday 13 September (subject to cancellations).
  • The weekend of 6/7 June will be the Kelly Cup Quarterfinals and friendly round.

 

Tier 2 Competitions

Wellington 1-7

  • Competitions will be reduced to 8 team leagues due to restrictions on the season window.
  • Two full rounds will be scheduled, starting on Saturday 6 June and finishing Saturday 5 September (subject to cancellations).
  • There will be no mid-season promotion/relegation.
  • Divisions have be based upon where teams were intended to start the season and will change subject to team entries.
  • Some mid-week games may still be required, but this will be less than previous year’s.
  • Subject to cancellations, additional fixtures maybe offered at the end of the season.

 

Horowhenua/Kapiti 1-2

  • Competitions will remain as divisions of 6 teams and 9 teams.
  • Competitions will start on Saturday 6 June.
  • Division 1 will be two full rounds followed by a Cup competition*.
  • Division 2 will be one full round followed by a Cup competition*.
  • *Structure of Cup competition TBC.

 

Wairarapa 1-3

  • Competitions will remain as divisions of 6 teams.
  • Competitions will start on Saturday 6 June.
  • Structure of the season is TBC but will likely be 2-3 full rounds followed by a cup competition.

 

Masters 1-6

  • Competitions will be reduced to 8 team leagues due to restrictions on the season window.
  • Two full rounds will be scheduled, starting on Saturday 6 June and finishing Saturday 12 September (subject to cancellations).
  • There will be a break over the middle weekend of the school holidays.
  • An additional division will be added called Masters Qualifier (working title). This division will be made up of team entering masters from Capital Leagues and any Masters 2 teams wishing to qualify for Masters 1 in 2021.
  • Divisions, outside of Masters Qualifier, will be based upon where teams were intended to start the season and will change subject to team entries.
  • Subject to cancellations, additional fixtures maybe offered at the end of the season.
  • Master Over 44 will remain as an 8-team division with two full rounds.

 

Youth Competitions

 

Women’s U18

  • Competitions will remain 6 team leagues.
  • Al least three full rounds will be scheduled, starting on Saturday 6 June.
  • Confirmed structure TBC.

 

Men’s U17 A and B

  • Competitions will be reduced to 8 team leagues due to restrictions on the season window.
  • Two full rounds will be scheduled, starting on Saturday 6 June and finishing Saturday 12 September (subject to cancellations).
  • There will be a break over the middle weekend of the school holidays. CF will arrange friendlies if required.
  • There may be promotion/relegation after the first round in line with Capital Development Leagues.
  • Divisions will be based upon where teams were intended to start the season and will change subject to team entries.
  • Subject to cancellations, some additional fixtures maybe offered at the end of the season.

 

Capital Development League

  • Competitions will start on Saturday 6 June and finish Saturday 26 September.
  • Details TBC separately by Steeve Sharpe.

 

Mixed U13-U15

  • Competitions will be reduced to 8 team leagues, where possible.
  • Competitions will start on Saturday 6 June and finish Saturday 26 September.
  • There will be a break over the middle weekend of the school holidays. CF may look to arrange friendlies/festival day if required.
  • There may be promotion/relegation after the first round in line with Capital Development Leagues.
  • Divisions will be based upon where teams were intended to start the season and will change subject to team entries.
  • Final competitions structure will be confirmed by Liam Hyslop.

 

Junior Competitions

Mixed and Girls Only U9-U12

  • Competitions will start on Saturday 13 June and finish Sunday 27 September.
  • There will be a break over the middle weekend of the school holidays. CF may look to arrange friendlies/festival day if required.
  • Divisions will be based upon where teams were intended to start the season and will change subject to team entries.
  • Final competitions structure will be confirmed by Liam Hyslop.

 

Fun Football Festivals U7-U8

  • Depending on the government announcement and restrictions on gatherings, CF will look to communicate best practice for clubs and provide some guidance on the approach for Fun Football (& First Kicks) as well as a plan around the Festivals.
