COVID-19 update (17 Mar)

KCU members, please see below today’s (17 March) update from Capital Football:

Dear Clubs,

As per our note yesterday, I write to further update you as to where things are at in relation to the COVID-19 (Corona Virus) situation; it is such a fluid situation that it is likely we will continue to update you on a regular basis.

As was mentioned yesterday there was a Capital Football Board meeting last night where management briefed the Board on the latest information available and potential scenarios.

There is a conference call with the other Federations and NZ Football Wednesday morning and in the afternoon the meeting with the other main Wellington winter sports (rugby, hockey, netball & basketball); both of these are hoped to get some unanimity around “where to from here?”.

There is further information expected from the Ministry of Health/Sport NZ and this is hoped to be available tomorrow however in the interim I can inform you of the CF Boards current thinking

  • All Junior & Youth football will be delayed till the 2nd May (this includes the U17 grades)
  • Senior football will go ahead as scheduled; currently CF is working on some guidelines for players, spectators, coaches, referees, etc and these will be issued shortly.

As ever things can change!!! However at the risk of over-communicating we will continue to update you as and when information becomes available.

Thanks for your understanding.

Kind Regards

The Capital Football Team
